I came from a small mining town, Cadomin, in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. Our family moved to Edmonton in 1952 and I spent my growing up years there. There was just my sister and I in the family but my Father enjoyed hockey and this was passed on to us. There was not a lot of entertainment money but when I met my late husband, Bill Warring, in the early 1960's I was able to take in the hockey games where I first met and enjoyed watching Roger Bourbonnais. I dont think that I missed many games that Roger played in in Edmonton. My husband and I relocated to British Columbia in 1966 and this has been our home since then. I have researched Roger's career and am so proud of his story. I remember with such happiness being up in the stands and cheering on a very young Roger.Eunice Warringnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-31994488512423691822024-02-14T13:40:21.239-08:002024-02-14T13:40:21.239-08:00I am the same person who wrote about Dr. Watson...I am the same person who wrote about Dr. Watson's sense of humor and the fact that my youngest son was ne of the last babies he delivered. He actually assisted in the delivery, as he was already semi-retired at that point (1984). When he came in to the delivery room, he looked at my chart and said "I KNOW you. I brought you into this world and then was your doctor for a while. You're Carol's baby. Where'd you get all of that fa? It wasn't from your mother". I took absolutely no offense, but I smiled and said "No Dr. Watson. I did it all by myself. Now can we get on with the show?"... I also worked at the bank next door to the hospital some time later, after he was fully retired. He would come in to the bank to do business. He'd be talking to his colleagues and say "You see this young lady standing next to me? I brought her into this world and she's the reason I'm retired!"... They would all just giggle as I'd say "that's not fair. You brought my son into the world thirty years later!". I admired him greatly. Such a kind heart. They don't make 'em like that very often.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-72324385313060481132022-08-03T21:08:44.971-07:002022-08-03T21:08:44.971-07:00Fun fact. I am so grateful that you thought to call and interview my Uncle Jim. He is really an amazing guy, and so much of the story was unknown to me. Mostly because I just never asked him. It's weird to ask a celebrity about their moment in the sun, even when they are a family member!! As a child (and teenager) all I knew was that he was the manager of a software company, and he was quite physically fit and just quiet and humble and obviously loved my Aunt Mary Louise (still does!) Her maiden name is Gilcrest, btw. She is my Dad's sister. Never seen anybody else on ice with his skating profile. Although his best time was already over. All say he was too early wounded and too soft. I have seen him playing in 2. Bundesliga with doubled break his Inguinal hernia being all times dangerous as passer and goaltender. As a matter of fortune he played a while with Valery Vassiliec at Ratingen. They played a friendship game against Dynamo Moskau their earlier team. They were in Town bexause Germany Hockey Cup against Düsseldorf, must have been 1992. Never seen so much respect for older camerads. Both had been officers as playing for the KGB Team. But coming back to hockey. I am so thankful having seen them both live on ice. Dr. Watson assisted in the delivery of my youngest son in 1984. When he walked in to the operating room (he was a scheduled C Section baby), he looked at my chart and then at me and said "I know you. I brought you into this world. Where'd you get that fat? It wasn't from your mother". I did not take offense, just chimed in with "No Dr Watson, I did it all by myself. Now can we please get on with this?". My very first encounter with him was when I was 13 years old and my mother took me to see him because I was having female issues. I was terrified to think that anyone was going to touch me "in those places" and was in tears. He came in and smiled and said "Oh Sweetheart, I'm not going to hurt you. How could I EVER think about that?" Again, kind and gentle... And remembered everyone whose life he touched by name...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-2416439673836418722017-05-11T00:03:23.608-07:002017-05-11T00:03:23.608-07:00How come Jiri Chra wasn't goalie on the 76 Can...How come Jiri Chra wasn't goalie on the 76 Canada Cup Czechoslovakian team?
