Maltsev scored after doing a hight speed pirouhette, leaving the American players too stunned to react. I love America, but I also loved Soviet hockey. They were the best everAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-66714079987347949692012-06-06T06:13:40.336-07:002012-06-06T06:13:40.336-07:00I admire him for his technique.I admire him for his technique.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-64180926457344131652011-07-02T10:44:37.463-07:002011-07-02T10:44:37.463-07:00Correction... He was added to the team specifically for the North-American series in '75/'76 - along with a few other players - to strengthen the team. He had always played for the Moscow Dynamo, and his name is forever associated with that club.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-7103737379844003712010-07-10T01:16:18.246-07:002010-07-10T01:16:18.246-07:00By any standards a list of the best hockey players...By any standards a list of the best hockey players through the ages would be completely dominated by soviet players at the top twenty places!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28301633.post-68147773075236515502009-11-11T03:41:59.866-08:002009-11-11T03:41:59.866-08:00"The Red Army always served as the Russian..."The Red Army always served as the Russian's national team and most national team members also would skate with the Big Red Machine during the Soviet League schedule. Maltsev was one of the few players who was able to play elsewhere during the season."<br /><br />Simply not true, certainly not during the years Maltsev played. For example, look at probably the best Soviet national team ever (1981 Canada Cup team), and out of the 22 players, 'only' 10-11 were Red Army players. I wish you North Americans would stop saying this thing as a fact! Most of the BEST players, yes, but not most of the players.<br /><br />PS. Maltsev scored 7 POINTS in the 1976 Canada Cup, not 7 assists...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
