Bill Gibson

Bill "Gibby" Gibson was the leading scorer for the Edmonton Mercurys when they won the 1952 Olympic Gold Medal in Oslo, Norway.

Gibson was an add-on to the Mercurys Olympic roster. He was actually out of Lethbridge, Alberta. A year earlier Gibson led the Lethbridge Maple Leafs to victory at the 1951 World Amateur Hockey Championships in Paris, France.

The dangerous goal scorer did have a couple of chances to join the Detroit Red Wings organization as a pro in the late 1940s, but he never was signed. He did attend training camps and even bunked with a fellow named Gordie Howe.

Gibson lived in Lethbridge and was a car salesman.
